A Rare Toy Comes to Market

It's rare that you see a very old toy coming to market. However, on May 21, 2016, a rare Althof Bergmann "Fultan" ferry boat came to market.

                                                      Description:
                                 ALTHOF BERGMANN "FULTAN" FERRY BOAT

Exceptional Americana example, hand painted tin, large stencilling on side reads, "Fulton,"
features cast iron spoke wheels, upper deck cabin, railed bow and stern, walking beam at top
roof, multi-colored, oval decking adds nice realism to hull, single stack, a great survivor of an
elusive early American toy. Some re-solder to bow deck, partial loss to green paint areas of
roof and top of canopies, replaced stack, slight bend to front, otherwise an opportune chance
to bid on a museum quality find.

Above:

The wheels are connected to the black  item on the top of the toy, near the smokestack. As the
toy moves, the black item (like an oilfield pumper, moves up and down.

I have no idea what that black item is, so if there is someone out there who knows what that black mocking toy part is, by all means tell me, and I'll add the information to this post.

By the way, this very old toy sold for $17,700.00 US at the auction.

Thanks  for dropping by,
And as always,
have a great day,
wherever you may be,
